FOREIGNERS' REGISTRATION
You are required to register your address in Japan with the local government office. This procedure is necessary for administrative purposes. All official notices and correspondence will be sent to this address. However, it's not necessary for persons staying in Japan for less than 90 days.
You must register with the City Hall (Shiyakusyo) where you live within 90 days of arrival. Your passport and two photographs (4.5cm ×3.5cm : taken within 6 months) are necessary.
The photos are not necessary for those under 16-year-old.
If you change your address, you should go to the City Hall in the area of your new address with your Foreigner's Registration Card.
