Hitokura Dam

Hitokura Dam was completed in 1982 at the confluence of two rivers, Tajirigawa River and Hitokura-Orojigawa River, after a 15-year period of construction. The mountain on the north of the dam used to be called "Kimyo-zan", a mountain of wonder, because in the old days, silver and copper were produced in the mountain. The mountain, then, has become to be called Chimyo-zan, which is a corrupted form of "Kimyo-zan".
In November, when the surrounding of Hitokura Dam is beautifully colored by vibrant yellows and reds, the Run-Around Hitokura Dam (Hitokura Dam Marathon) is held, and the route of the race is filled with a number of supporters cheering for runners.
