Dragon Road and Inagawa Big Harp
The extended part of the Hansin Expressway Osaka-Ikeda line in Kawanishi city is shaped like "The Dragon" and named "The Dragon Road of Kawanishi".
It shows that the history of Kawanishi city has something to do with "The Dragon" like "The legend of the nine heads dragon" and "The myth of the Dragon in the Kamo area". Also, the shape of the city is similar to a sea horse, which looks like the baby of a dragon. "The Dragon Road of Kawanishi" tells us the history and culture, and means the new symbol of the city prosperity.
Viewed from the direction of Osaka, the light post on the Inagawa bridge, which stands around the edge between Hyogo and Osaka, represents the head of the dragon. (See the upper right picture. That is the Expressway walk before the opening.) "The Kawanishi Obana entrance and exit" are the hands, and the walk bridge crossing the entrance and exit are the legs. "The big harp" (or the new Inagawa O-hashi bridge) is the tail. Also the 1,077 meters of sound proof wall standing for the body is designed to resemble the dragon scales.
The new Inagawa O-hashi "The Big Harp" is the biggest bridge of its type in Japan. This is a slanting suspension bridge with the center support post as the picture shows.
The length is 400 meters, the height of the main pole is 90 meters from the land, and it is pitched with 56 white cables. This silhouette resembles a big harp, so people call it "The Big Harp".
